If you purchase and install the
Venstar 7-day programmable thermostat (wired), a
Venstar 7-Day Thermostat (wired), Dual Fuel Thermostat (wired), or a
Venstar 1-day programmable thermostat (wired), you can monitor and control the temperature in your home remotely,
via telephone, to make sure you come home to a comfortable house. The Thermostat Telephone Controller connects to your phone line, and when you call in from any remote phone or cell phone, you can use touchtone buttons or voice commands to check the temperature or adjust settings.
The Thermostat Telephone Controller requires an
analog (i.e., land-line) telephone line.
The Thermostat Telephone Controller (a.k.a. Comfort Call) consists of 2 parts, namely, a Base Station (Transmitter) that connects to the phone line and an RF Wireless Module (Receiver) that plugs into the Thermostat, as shown in the picture below.
The ring selector on the Base Station should be set to pick up the line after 7 rings. With this setting, Comfort Call will not answer before an occupant is likely pick up the phone. If an Answering or FAX machine is also connected, then the answering/fax machine should be set to pick up
before Commfort Call (i.e., 7 rings.) In the case of a connected answering machine, after the tone to leave a message is heard, the user enters the Comfort Call security code. Comfort Call will release the answering machine from the line and control of the thermostat is now possible.
