- At least 2 Access Points (a.k.a. Bridges) are required when setting up your Lighting control/automation network
- If you have a 4,000 square feet house (or smaller) the 2 Access Points provided in this package should suffice
- In a very large house, you may want to install additional Access Point(s) to improve RF (wireless) signal reception.
- Techie stuff: Access Points bridge RF-only INSTEON devices with power line-only INSTEON devices. Access Points also couple the phases in your electrical wiring allowing commands to freely travel to all locations in your home.
- Techie stuff: Uses 915MHz band for fast, reliable communication
INSTEON is a powerful, home-control networking technology that will enhance the comfort, safety, convenience and value of your home. The INSTEON Access Points are a
critical part of the lighting/appliance control/automation network. Access Points allow RF-only INSTEON devices (like a RemoteLinc) to send commands to power line-only INSTEON devices (like a SwitchLinc). If you need more coverage for your INSTEON RF devices, you only need to add another Access Point. Also, when used in pairs, Access Points couple the phases in your electrical wiring allowing commands to freely travel to all locations in your home.
Details and Specifications
The Access Points create your dual-mesh INSTEON network by simultaneously transmitting and receiving INSTEON commands across both radio frequency and your home's existing wiring. When used as a pair, the Access Points also couple the two different electrical phases of your home. Each Access Point also repeats INSTEON commands, adding to the network's robust reliability.
Please Note: Access Points repeat INSTEON signals and not X10 (X10 is an older, less reliable and sophisticated powerline technology.)
You can also purchase Access Points
individually.
Control All of Your Lights From Your Couch
Using a
RemoteLinc Wireless Remote Control (sold separately), you'll be able to turn all INSTEON-compatible devices in your home on/off/dim at the press of a button. The Access Points bridge the RemoteLinc's RF signals to your home's powerline, delivering power and scene commands to INSTEON-compatible devices throughout the house.
White status LED
The LED is used initially to help set up your network. After the initial setup, the white LED will flicker as it sends or receives INSTEON signals, making it easy to see when there is traffic traveling through your INSTEON network.
For 2-Phase Residential applications only
INSTEON has been tested in a 2-phase residential environment. 3-Phase wiring is NOT supported.
